Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my website.
My name is Nicola Dore and I am a very proud Limerick woman from Kilcornan. I have had cerebral palsy since birth. I am now a wheelchair-user but that does not hold me back from achieving my goals and dreams!
Regardless of my condition, I feel blessed to have already made history twice with the first one becoming the 1st Irish woman to make the Irish Para-Powerlifting Team back in 2015. The second was on Saturday 26th May 2018 by becoming Ireland's first athlete to win a Senior Medal in a Major World Para Powerlifting competition. I smashed my old personal best 3 times to win bronze at the European championships in France! Whooo Hooooo! :-)
"I love what I do... raising the bar is more than a sport to me... it's ability... it's inclusion... it's strength... it is power... it's female empowerment... that you are possible... that you can be anything you want to be... that disability does not mean inability... I've always strived to promote ability & inclusion.
I look at the word "disabled" as "differently abled"
It will be a dream come true for me to represent my country at the Paralympics in Tokyo 2020 and I know I can do this!
My coaches and I are very confident I will go all the way to Tokyo in 2020 after reaching many historic achievements to date. I am still pinching myself and can't believe how far I have come...
